Al Dubuc - Royal Marine Commandos
Al joined the British Royal Marines in 2007 and successfully completed the prestigious 32-week Commando Course. He served for eight years as a Royal Marines Commando, deploying on multiple tours to Afghanistan with a combat quick reaction force. During his service with the special operations unit, Al conducted numerous high-risk, close-quarters combat missions targeting Taliban strongholds. He was awarded the Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan in recognition of his service.
Following his military career, Al completed advanced hostile-environment and domestic operations training as a Close Protection Specialist with Ronin in South Africa. He went on to provide protective services for ultra-high-net-worth individuals, politicians, and celebrities in London and internationally. Al later transitioned into maritime security, where he served as a tactical specialist escorting commercial vessels through high-threat, pirate-infested waters in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, successfully deterring multiple armed attacks.


Dan Powers - Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Dan Powers served with the RCMP for more than 30 years, spending the majority of his career in specialized units before retiring as Sergeant of the Southern Alberta Major Crimes Unit. During his service, he held leadership and operational roles including Detachment Commander, Primary Close Protection Specialist for the Prime Minister of Canada, and Investigator with both the General Investigations Section and the Internal Affairs Unit.
Dan has extensive training and investigative experience in homicide, sexual assault, robbery, and complex commercial crime cases. He served as an RCMP Instructor for the Interview and Interrogation Course and holds certification as a Team Commander in Major Case Management, as well as Advanced Surveillance operations. He completed specialized close protection, advanced driving, and motorcade training with the RCMP and was assigned to the Prime Minister’s Protection Unit for over ten years. In this capacity, Dan provided personal protection for the Prime Minister of Canada, members of the British Royal Family including Prince Harry, Prince William, Princess Catherine, and Prince Edward and the Governor General of Canada.


Derrick Rossler - Calgary Police Service
Derrick served with the Calgary Police Service for 25 years, retiring as a Detective Sergeant in the Homicide Unit. Over the course of his career, he held senior investigative roles within the Major Crimes Bureau, Guns and Gangs, Gang Suppression, Surveillance, and Homicide units.
He possesses extensive expertise in high-risk and tactical operations and is a proven leader with significant experience supervising multidisciplinary investigative teams on complex, high-profile cases. Derrick contributed to numerous national and international joint task forces and was the recipient of multiple commendations for lifesaving actions, valour, distinguished service, and exceptional marksmanship.
In addition, Derrick is a qualified close protection specialist and was assigned to the Alberta Premier’s protection detail. He also served as a specialist unit instructor with the Calgary Police Service and the Criminal Intelligence Service of Alberta.


Shane Loxterkamp - Edmonton Police Service
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shane Loxterkamp on March 19, 2026. Shane was a valued manager with Spec Ops Security and a former member of the Edmonton Police Service, whose dedication, professionalism, and integrity left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working with him. More than a colleague, Shane was a trusted friend to many of us, and his presence will be profoundly missed.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shane’s family as they grieve this profound loss, and we hope they find comfort, strength, and peace in the days ahead.
Shane’s legacy will remain an enduring part of our team, and we say goodbye with great respect and sorrow.


Ian Hope - Hampshire Police Constabulary
Ian Hope brings more than 30 years of combined law enforcement and military experience, with a proven record of leadership in complex operational environments. He began his career serving with the British Navy before joining the Hampshire Police (Constabulary) in the United Kingdom, where he spent 19 years as a police officer. During his service, he held roles across anti-terrorism, tactical operations, incident management, and serious crime investigations, demonstrating a consistent ability to lead teams in high-pressure and sensitive situations.
Ian continued his career as a Team Lead for the Government of Alberta Special Investigations Unit, overseeing critical investigations and providing operational guidance to specialized teams. He later joined Calgary Transit Public Safety as a Sergeant and served as a squad supervisor, recruit trainer, and control tactics instructor. Ian later accepted a senior Peace Officer role with a major Alberta municipality, where he provides strategic enforcement, leadership and mentorship across operational and investigative functions.
