STANDARD REQUIREMENTS
SPEC OPS SECURITY CANADA welcomes applications from qualified individuals who wish to pursue a career in the private security and investigations industry. Each branch of our company has specific requirements to apply, however; the following information below outlines the mandatory minimum requirements to apply for any position:
CITIZENSHIP
Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status required
EMPLOYMENT
Verifiable and stable employment history that is free of misconduct
LICENSE
A valid provincial security and/or investigator license is required
HEALTH
Excellent physical and mental health and able to perform duties
CRIMINAL RECORD
No criminal record or prior convictions in any jurisdiction
COMMUNICATION
Must communicate fluently in English - written and spoken

SECURITY
GUARDS
Listed below are the requirements to apply for a position in our security services division. Low Security applicants must meet ALL of the standard requirements listed above. Medium and High level security applicants must meet the standard requirements and the following additional requirements:

Excellent physical and mental health, ability to perform all security duties without any restrictions or impediments and be capable of passing a PARE or COPAT test
-
Possess a grade 12 high school diploma or GED (A post secondary diploma or degree in criminal justice is considered a strong asset)
-
No less than 3 years full-time sworn service as a Police Officer, Alberta Sheriff, Level 1 Peace Officer or as a regular member of the Canadian Armed Forces OR No less than 5 years private security experience in Canada. Examples: West Edmonton Mall Security, U of C or U of A Campus Security (some equivalencies may be considered)

Strong knowledge of the criminal code, security authorities, powers of arrest, use of force laws, report writing and communication skills required

Valid First Aid, AED and CPR certification
-
Valid Class 5 (or higher) Provincial Driver's License



EXECUTIVE PROTECTION
Listed below are the requirements to apply for a position in our Executive Protection Unit. Applicants must meet ALL of the standard requirements listed above as well as the following additional requirements:

Excellent physical and mental health, ability to perform all duties without any restrictions or impediments and be capable of successfully completing a PARE test
-
Candidates must have proven full-time service in a specialized unit or protection detail. Accepted Units: RCMP Prime Minister's Protection Unit, Alberta Sheriff Premier's Protection Unit, US Secret Service, UK MPS Protection Command, RCMP ERT, Police Tactical Units, JTF2, CANSOFCOM, British Royal Marine Commandos, SAS, US Navy SEALS or Special Forces etc.

Ability to pass a background check and obtain federal security clearance
-
Certification as a Close Protection Specialist with an accredited police or military agency, OR no less than 45 days training and CP certification with an approved law enforcement or military accredited training agency

Valid driver's license and Advanced First Aid/CPR/AED certification

PRIVATE
INVESTIGATOR
Listed below are the requirements to apply for a position in our Private Investigations Division. Applicants must meet ALL of the standard requirements listed above as well as the following additional requirements:

Excellent physical and mental health and the ability to perform all duties without any restrictions or impediments
-
Candidates must have no less than 5 years of full-time experience as a Canadian, US or UK Police Officer/Detective or as an Alberta Sheriff with proven service in a specialized investigations or surveillance unit

Ability to pass a stringent background investigation
-
Successful completion of basic and advanced police surveillance training
-
Valid class 5 (or higher) driver's license
-
Posses strong knowledge of the criminal code, civil law, evidence gathering, report writing and court testimony procedures
-
Excellent critical thinking, analytical and communication skills
-
The following unit experience and/or training is considered a strong asset: homicide, major crimes, strike/surveillance, commercial crimes, arson, vice, missing persons, guns and gangs, organized crime, SCAN, FASST, insurance crimes, auto theft, robbery, cybercrimes, collision investigation.
